How can you get a copy of this outstanding book?

OK, I can hear you first asking, "$62.50 for a chess book?!?!"

Well, you can view that in several ways, but I think the simplest is this:
How much would you pay for one year of once-a-week, two-hour-long private chess lessons?

IN FACT, Some Middlegame Considerations contains much more material than could be covered during
one year of two-hour lessons — and, you can proceed at your own pace, with a permanent reference.
(So, in fact, price should not be a problem for this 500+-page text.)

What is special about this middlegame text??

If you've ever been in a situation where you have absolutely no idea what to do (during the opening or middlegame), then this book is ideal for you!

Also, the text provides a well-structured approach to explaining about the key dynamic aspects of chess, with a special section discussing how to go about reading a position to formulate the best plans suggested therefrom!

In addition, there are numerous games — including some of the most exciting, instructive battles from throughout chess history (including from Steinitz, Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Euwe, Botwinnik, Tarrasch, Keres, and more!) — which are heavily annotated to demonstrate how to apply the material of this book.

Furthermore, there is a special appendix on the "Choices Charts," a revolutionary tool for making move-selection as easy as possible in any position!  The appendix provides a detailed description and several examples so that you can understand exactly how to get the most benefit from "Choices Charts."

Any of these, alone, make the book worth the value — together, they actually make this book a real  bargain  for  you!

Who is Steve Cohen?   What can he teach about chess?

Steve Cohen is the founder and president of the UPSCL, a non-profit scholastic chess league serving the San Mateo (California) Peninsula Scholastic Chess Community since 1995 (and its sole teacher). Over the course of his life, Steve had been searching for, and has developed, a unique system of approach to chess that makes chess as easy as possible. This "system" that Steve has created is presented as the unique chess curriculum of the UPSCL, which has been enjoyed by hundreds of children ranging in age from pre-K through 9th grade.

Steve's first book, The Opening 8 (For You and Your Parents) contains full coverage of the curriculum to be covered in a Level-I course (if we had about 30-40 weeks for the course, which is typically 8-11 weeks long). This text, Some Middlegame Considerations, contains the full 1st-half of the UPSCL "Level-II curriculum," covering middlegame theory. [Also, during 1999-2001, Steve presented a popular end-game lecture series at the Internet Chess Club.]

UPSCL students include several California State Champions, one student who had a perfect score (and earned first, on tie-breaks) in his division at SuperNationals 2001, another has taken or shared 1st place at the 2000 and 2001 North American Opens (in Amateur and U2200 sections) -- the winnings from which more than paid for all the lessons he'd received [and, as a 9th-grader, came in 2nd in the 2002 State Championships in the K-12th division behind only 12th-grader IM Vinay Bhat (one-time record-holder of the youngest-ever age to reach the level of master chess-player in the U.S.)].

Thus, Steve has successfully taught chess to many people; and now, you can learn this system to make chess easy for you!

Incidentally, Steve's books sell out quickly!

So don't delay your order... as they soon may be all gone!

Why are most other chess books priced less?

Of course quantity is a big factor (we self-publish on a very small scale).

Then again, with most chess books, you really get what you pay for!
(so, I want you to realize that you're really getting a good quality book!!!)
[This is not to mention that this book describes a unique, revolutionary, and easy-to-use system for selecting moves and explains (with examples) how to make use of this system; also, there is a fine collection of some of the most exciting, instructive games throughout chess history (all heavily annotated for your learning benefit)!]
